A short time ago,
The Indianapolis Star printed a fine article about the
popularity of small group ministries in which a participating pastor aptly reflected,
"If you don't get connected in church, you don't have people who know you.
You don't have people who love you. You don't have people who will celebrate your
life or mourn with you when somebody dies or if something bad happens."
To prevent such a lack of connection from happening, I would like to help each of
you develop meaningful, lasting, Christ-centered friendships in this congregation.
I have been hired by your leadership to lead this ministry because small groups
have proved to be a powerful way to accomplish this mission and because these gatherings
are vital to SOTP's ministry. One of our core values is
Transformation
occurs in Small Groups. Remember, this is not a new or trendy idea.
Jesus ministered to thousands in his lifetime, but He very deliberately chose only
a couple of handfuls of people -- a small group -- to be his closest friends and
disciples.
