Thank You!
VBS this summer was a huge success!!!
We had 90 kids, and over 40 volunteers, it was incredible. Ready, Set, Move! Following Jesus here, there, and everywhere was our theme. Kids had a busy adventure everyday singing songs, playing games, making crafts, eating delicious snacks, and hearing amazing stories about Jesus. (PLease include some pictures of vbs)
A special thank you to all of our volunteers that helped make our VBS this year unbelievable!

For 2023-2024 School Year
Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is now open!
=> 12 slots are available for a 2-day class being offered on T/Th (for children who have turned 3 or 4 by Sept. 1, 2023)
=> 10 slots are available for a 1-day class on Wednesdays (for children who are at least 2 by Sept. 1, 2023)
=> There is also the option for your child to attend 3 days (Tuesday/Thursday and Fridays). We do highly recommend students who will be entering Kindergarten in 2024 to attend for 3 days, so they will be ready for Kindergarten the following year. Parents have been very pleased with their child’s progress after having been in the 3-day class and felt the extra day was instrumental in Kindergarten preparation.
The registration fee is $50.
Also, if you refer a new family that signs up to our program we will reduce their registration fee and yours to $25!!!

Artist Series Concert
“WHAT’S MORE AMERICAN THAN BROADWAY”
Mark Olen and his “Stars and Stripes” Orchestra will present a special evening of entertaining Patriotic and Broadway musical selections during a free concert on July 2nd at 7 p.m. at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street.
Sponsored by the SOTP Artist Series, Mark Olen has performed in prior concerts, as well as various church services at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. Olen and his trumpet exhibit his versatility by performances with the American Jazz Philharmonic, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Grant Park, Elgin and Rockford Symphonies, Chicago Brass Quintet & Brassworks. He has been a soloist with Great Lakes Navy Band & Chicago Jazz Ensemble as well. Mark and the “Stars and Stripes” Orchestra will be joined by renowned soloists Alyssa Allgood and Paul Marinaro.
Alyssa Allgood is a Chicago-based jazz vocalist who has been described as “assured and daring” by DownBeat Magazine and a “model of sophisticated song interpretation” by the Chicago Tribune.
Paul Marinaro, dubbed as having “one of the most beautiful vocal instruments in the business today” by the Chicago Tribune, is a modern classic. With Chicago as his home base Paul has become one of the most in-demand and respected male vocalists and has taken his place among the top five male jazz singers active today.

Celebrate by Giving Gifts to ELCA World Hunger
O Holy Night. Away in the Manger. Joy to the World! It’s Christmas in July at SOTP!!!!
Christmas is a time of celebration. The Christmas carols, the twinkling lights, the cookies, the joy of giving gifts. A celebration of God’s ultimate gift to us: the birth of Jesus. So we’re celebrating again from July 8th – 30th to share our love for others by giving our gifts to ELCA World Hunger.
On July 8th and 9th look for the Christmas tree display. It contains ornaments for gifts like bees, pigs, goats, care for kids (like sending a girl to school, vacinations for a child or stocking a backpack with food) or even a water well! These gifts can make a difference in the lives of families in ELCA community partners across the globe. Just pick out an ornament and an offering envelop. Place your money or check in the envelop and drop off the donation in the God’s Global Barnyard “barn” at the display table, or donate “online”. Hang your ornament on the tree so we see how our gifts are transforming lives, and creating hope in the lives of families facing food insecurity. Please return all gifts/donations by Sunday July 30th.

Equipping

Here at SOTP, we want to be sure that everyone has access to the latest events and happenings here at the church. One of the best ways to keep up to date is through our church app called “Church Center”
Not only is this app updated with the most current SOTP information, it is a quick and easy way for all members to register for events, keep in touch with their groups and make requests for things such as room reservations!

During SEE week, we want to be sure to support anyone who is looking to get a better understanding of the app and how it is/can be used.
Feel free to reach out to our Operations Manager, Matt Morrison, anytime during the week to get one on one time specific to any questions you may have.
